Portrait with Emotion

The emotion I expressed in my portrait is happiness. To create this portrait I photographed my little sister because she is the happiest, most carefree and enthusiastic people I know even though I call her annoying sometimes. I posed her on the couch which is where she is the most creative and gets her ideas for her art projects and I made sure to get a genuine smile by telling her I was getting her more art supplies for her birthday. I used rembrandt lighting to really emphasize one side of her face and bring attention to a small portion of the other side of her her face. I edited the image by converting the it into black and white and turning the saturation down to emphasize the black and white. I also increased the contrast and added a vignette. Overall I think my portrait was a success because I was able to capture my sister's genuine happiness. Next time I might try different lighting patterns to see if one looks better.
